The OnePlus Watch, the company’s first attempt at developing a smartwatch, was unveiled earlier this year. Mishaal liked the OnePlus Watch in our review and thought it was a good challenger to Xiaomi and Amazfit’s offerings. OnePlus has released a new smartwatch, this time the OnePlus Watch Harry Potter Limited Edition.

The Harry Potter theming and synergies are the highlight of this special edition, as the label suggests. This limited edition smartwatch is clearly aimed at fans of the franchise, but it may also be purchased by those who simply enjoy the design. The colors on this Watch, for example, differ from those on the standard Midnight Black and Moonlight Silver models, as well as the Cobalt Limited Edition. The casing is a copper-colored reddish-brown, and the strap is a darker shade of red-brown to complement it. As far as I can tell, the strap is leather (vegan, not genuine leather), and the quality and feel are significantly superior to the usual fragile silicon bands found on entry-level smartwatches.
On the watch strap is a Hogwarts logo, and the clasp includes the famous Harry Potter trademark branding. The OnePlus wordmark appears on one of the side buttons, while the other has a Bolt mark that resembles Harry’s iconic mark on his forehead. If you aren’t a Harry Potter fan and simply desire the watch for its appearance, all of these brandings are fairly discreet and nothing that screams out loud.
The unboxing experience for the OnePlus Watch Harry Potter Edition leaves a lasting impact. Unlike other OnePlus goods, which have very clean and simple packaging, this smartwatch has a unique packaging. The branding is quite strong and evident, and the unboxing experience, as well as the box itself, will be part of the motivation for your purchase.
The OnePlus Watch Harry Potter Limited Edition’s box slides out halfway from the middle, evoking the scene from Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone (2001) in which Harry first visits Diagon Alley with Hagrid. In the Leaky Cauldron, Hagrid taps the brick pattern on a dead-end wall, and the bricks shift around to create a way to Diagon Alley. I still remember how excited I was when I first saw the film, and the unboxing experience brought back some pleasant memories.

The Watch is contained within the box, and there isn’t much going on within the box. However, the box itself is of good quality, and if you’re a Harry Potter enthusiast, this is something you can display alongside your other series memorabilia.
The Harry Potter connection can also be found in a few locations within the software. When you turn on the watch, you’ll see the Harry Potter boot animation, but you’ll just have a second or two to appreciate it. You won’t have many of these opportunities, either, because the battery life on this Watch is really good, at 8+ days for me so far on the first charge.
When you turn on the Watch, you’ll see six different Harry Potter-themed watch faces: one for each House and two more. The names of the watch faces are a little dubious, but that’s something you can overlook. If you don’t like these, you can choose from a variety of alternative Watch faces available in the normal variations.
From what I could tell, that’s all there is to it. The rest of the Watch’s experience is comparable to that of the normal OnePlus Watch, and I recommend reading Mishaal’s review for an in-depth look at how it works. OnePlus has responded to the review by addressing and adding key features that it had promised at launch. There is now an Always On Display on the Watch, as well as many training modes. Click a snapshot of your wardrobe, and the OnePlus Health app will select the dominant colors in your clothes and build a watch face with those accents.
In addition, the Watch works with Google Maps and displays navigation instructions, which is really useful if you don’t want to be checking your phone all the time. All of the other features described in the full review are also there and functioning properly, so take a look.
The OnePlus Watch Harry Potter Limited Edition is intended to be a collector and functional device in equal measure. If you didn’t like the OnePlus Watch’s core concept previously, this special edition isn’t likely to change your mind. Instead, it’s a new color scheme designed to entice consumers who were on the verge of making a decision but held off. And, of course, if you’re a fan of the franchise and want to wear your devotion on your wrist, you may now do so.
