Before the year is up, Samsung is anticipated to unveil the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 and the Z Flip 4, and there are numerous rumours that the company also has plans to update its line of smartwatches.

Although rumours suggest a Galaxy Watch 5 and Watch 5 Pro for 2022, Samsung released the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 4 Classic in 2021.
This concludes our knowledge about Samsung’s next Galaxy smartwatches, the Galaxy Watch 5 and Galaxy Watch 5 Pro.
Release Date and Price
- 10 August 2022?
- 26 August on sale?
The Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 was initially expected to debut in the second half of 2022, which made sense given the release cycles of the Galaxy Watch 4 models and the Galaxy Watch 3, both of which came in August of their respective years.
The Galaxy Watch 5 was then rumoured to be released on August 10, 2022, with an on-sale date of August 26, 2022. For the time being, Samsung has yet to confirm this.
There haven’t been any leaks about the price of the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5, but we wouldn’t be surprised if it’s in the same ballpark as the Galaxy Watch 4, which starts at £249 in the UK and $249.99 in the US. If a Pro model exists, we anticipate it to be more expensive.
Design and Display
- Watch 5: 40mm and 44mm
- Watch 5 Pro: 46mm
According to some sources, the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 will be available in two variants. There is claimed to be a normal model and a Pro model, with the Pro model looking similar to the standard model but being sleeker and more sporty.
According to reports, the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro will be less mechanical and will forego the spinning bezel, which we will be disappointed about, albeit it may still include a capacitive bezel. Other rumours claim that the Watch 5 Pro will be made of titanium and sapphire.
We’ve also heard that the Galaxy Watch 5 will come in two varieties. There will be a 40mm standard model in Phantom Black, Silver, and Pink Gold, as well as a 44mm standard model in Phantom Black, Silver, and Sapphire. The same leaker said that the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro would have a 46mm case and come in Phantom Black and Silver colours. Read more; Best Cheap Apple Watch Deals
Display sizes are yet to be revealed in leaks, however we may expect circular and AMOLED displays.

Hardware and Specs
The majority of the current rumours about the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5’s hardware revolve around its battery life. According to initial sources, the Galaxy Watch 5 could have a 276mAh battery vs the Galaxy Watch 4’s 247mAh battery, while the Watch 5 Classic could have a 397mAh battery versus the Watch 4 Classic’s 361mAh capacity. It’s possible that the battery of the Watch 5 Classic is merely the larger regular variant of the Galaxy Watch 5.
There have also been reports of a Watch 5 Pro with a 572mAh battery, with claims of wireless charging speeds increasing to 10W rather than 5W.
There hasn’t been much else announced in terms of hardware, but we’ll keep you updated as we learn more.
Features
- Heart rate monitoring
- Sleep monitoring with REM
- Multiple sports modes
- ECG
We haven’t heard much about the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 models’ features, but we’d anticipate the new devices to run Wear OS 3 and offer the same as the Watch 4 and Watch 4 Classic, plus a few more.
On the Watch 5 models, we’d expect to see heart rate monitoring, sleep monitoring with REM stages, fall detection, different sports modes, ECG, blood pressure, blood oxygen, and body composition. However, it is unclear what additions might materialise. Read also; Huawei Watch GT 3 Pro Review: Luxuriously Limiting
