A new console for Web3 gaming has been announced as the “world’s first multi-chain” system.
The Polium One will be available in late 2024, including “exclusive games” from Web3 creators as well as other titles.

It will be created by the eponymous Polium and pre-ordered by gamers who acquire an NFT “Polium Pass” on the Ethereum network. According to reports, just 10,000 will be mined.
You’re not alone if all of that has confused and/or turned you off. On social media, the announcement has already drawn a significant amount of criticism and anger.
For instance, several Twitter users have criticised the company’s logo, saying it is too similar to the branding of a particular Nintendo console. Read more; New Nintendo Switch 2 — Everything We Know So Far
As a result, Polium declared a logo chain was about to be released. In response to additional critical remarks, it has added that it won’t crowdfund its console until a fully functional prototype is available.
Other gaming consoles, like Ouya, have had difficulty living up to expectations despite receiving significant money through crowdfunding campaigns in the past. Or, like the redesigned Atari VCS and Intellivision Amico, they have been delayed by several months or even years. Read also: Valve Steam Deck Review: Perfect for Playing Away
We’ll have to wait to find out if the Polium One will exist, but we have a feeling that there will be a few tactical adjustments made first.
