The MacBook Pro 2022, one of two new flagship MacBooks for Apple’s second generation of silicon, the M2, was introduced during Apple’s WWDC presentation in June 2022.
This latest MacBook Pro is an update of the 13-inch variant, which starts at $1,299 and has a comparable look. It was announced alongside the new MacBook Air 2022 ($1,199 to start). The big change is under the hood, with Apple claiming that an M2-powered spec upgrade can provide up to 20 hours of movie playback.
The original M1-powered 13-inch Pro is still one of the greatest laptops on the market, so the arrival of a new model might be significant. Here’s all we know so far about the MacBook Pro 2022.
MacBook Pro 2022 Release Date
The 13-inch MacBook Pro 2022 will be available in July 2022, and you should soon be able to pre-order one on Apple’s website in either Silver or Space Gray.
The 13-inch Pro 2022 starts at $1,299, which is the same price as its predecessor, the M1-powered Pro 2021. It costs just $100 more than its sibling, the 2022 Air, which has an M2 engine and starts at $1,199. Apple will keep selling the 13-inch M1-powered Air until 2020 if you want a MacBook for less than $1,000.

MacBook Pro 2022: Design
The new 13-inch Macbook Pro 2022 looks a lot like the 13-inch MacBook Pro with M1, which came before it. It has two Thunderbolt 4/USB-C ports, and either one can be used to charge the device. It can also be charged quickly.
The display of the 2022 MacBook Pro has a new and better 1080p webcam. Apple says it should take better photos, thanks in part to the power of the M2 chip. Read More; Apple is planning a foldable MacBook for 2026
The MacBook Pro 2022 will use Apple’s new M2 chip, which can have a CPU with up to 8 cores and a GPU with up to 10 cores. Apple says that the M2 chip can do up to 18% better at running multiple cores than the M1.
We’ll have to test that for ourselves, but if it turns out to be true, that’s good news because the M1 impressed us with how fast it was and how little power is used. Read Also; Mac Pro 2022: Apple’s Workstation Computer
Apple also says that this new Pro with the M2 chip can play videos for up to 20 hours on a single charge, which would be a great use of power. Apple has a good track record of making devices with batteries that last as long as they say they will, but we’ll have to test one to be sure.
MacBook Pro 2022: Outlook
From what we’ve seen of the new 13-inch MacBook Pro 2022, we have reason to be cautiously excited. Apple seems to have made improvements to the performance and power efficiency of the M2 chip without making too many changes to a successful design.
We’ll have to test one, of course, to see how much the next generation of Apple chips makes a difference in Apple’s newest entry-level Pro. Keep watching!
