It was a massive chapter-ending event for Fortnite. Dwayne Johnson led a rescue operation after an all-out battle with UFOs, zombies, and the Cube Queen. (Actually, it’s his in-game persona.) The island then flipped on its side.

THE EVENT
Let’s go back in time a little bit. A weird blue cube appeared on the map next to all of the players in my lobby as soon as the latest season of the game began. Jumping at the cube flung players away, but other than that, it had no effect. For some time, the Cube Queen has been floating in an energy ball over the island’s center. We could also gaze out at her.
Our base was infested with zombies in front of the Cube Queen’s nasty laugh when the event countdown clock reached 10 minutes. Weapons had been added to everyone’s inventory, allowing them to fight off the invading zombies (albeit the zombies didn’t appear to represent any serious threat).
The Cube Queen’s pyramid glowed brightly when the clock struck zero, and an alarm sounded across the island. It was as though a doorway had opened up in the sky and a host of gigantic UFOs had poured out. There was just one UFO on the island during the seventh season, and it was the Cube Queen who had brought an army with her.
As the blue cube neared, players fought back against UFOs and zombies. After a UFO detonated the blue cube, things went from bad to worse in the conflict.
Moving from the surface to CGI cutscenes after that was a fascinating twist in this event. In a way, it was like Netflix making a Fortnite TV series. While Agent Jones was strapped to a laboratory chair, Dr. Slone, who had deceived players in last season’s season-ending finale, appeared to have Jones’ life at stake. So it was with great relief that Dwayne Johnson appeared as The Foundation, a massive figure known as The Foundation, who, as expected, ripped his mask off to reveal that he’s played by Johnson.

Meanwhile, two additional characters dressed like members of The Foundation were rescuing gamers on land and ferrying them into the island’s interior. To get to Jones and the Foundation, players were given control of a person named The Scientist. However, the island began to tip over gradually throughout the escape.
Jones and The Foundation were eventually found at Zero Point by gamers (essentially a big ball of energy that has been a key plot point in Fortnite). A giant zombie broke a window, forcing water to rush in and forcing us all to flee. The Scientist had assured us all that we were safe.
Watching as the island progressively tilted up to its full verticality and then fell back down, my persona emerged. Cube Queen was smashed, and the big doorway with UFOs shut down. This new scenery was revealed as the island was turned over. My character was rapidly blown out to sea by a tidal wave that appeared from a distance.
FORTNITE’S COMING BACK YET?
On an empty log at sea, Fortnite now shows my character as he was before. The only thing on the screen beside me, my solitary log, and the huge open ocean is that I’m immobile. “It is all like that transition between chapters one and two, the dark hole,” says a reviewer.
There is no indication of when Chapter 3 will be available. In the meantime, a leaked teaser appears to have given us a good idea of what we might expect.
First-person storytelling, arcade shooter against Marvel villain, thrilling single-player event to stabilize reality, and an alien mothership full of cubes are only some of the events in this chapter, which began in October 2019 after an extensive black hole downtime. Now that Chapter 2 has concluded, we must wait to see what Epic has in store for the next chapter.
