When is the HP Spectre x360 release date?
The latest HP Spectre x360 variants, including the 13-inch, 14-inch, and 15-inch models, were released in October 2020, just a few months after Intel released their Tiger Lake processors. With Intel’s recent announcement of 12th-generation Alder Lake CPUs, we may see updated versions of these products in the near future.
However, the HP Spectre x360 16 was just revealed, and it will be available in October 2021. However, at the time of writing, it is not yet available for purchase.
Some of HP’s best laptops are part of the Spectre series, which is updated every time important hardware is released, such as a new generation of Intel CPUs.
How much does the HP Spectre x360 cost?
The cost of the HP Spectre x360 is determined by the size you desire. The 13-inch, 14-inch, and 15-inch models all started at $1,199 when they were first released. HP is currently offering the HP Spectre x360 13 for $940.99, which includes an Intel Core i5-1135G7 processor, 8GB of RAM, 256GB of storage, and a Full HD IPS display. All of those components can be upgraded, with the current maximum price being roughly $1,620.
The HP Spectre x360 14 starts at $1,199.99 and includes an Intel Core i5-1135G7 processor, 8GB of RAM, 256GB of SSD storage with Intel Optane memory acceleration, and a Full HD+ (1920 x 1280) display. The total cost of upgrading all configuration options is $1,939.99.
What’s new in HP’s Spectre x360 laptop?
The latest HP Spectre x360 models include a few significant differences, although they’re primarily spec bumps over previous models. Here’s a quick review of the new features in the current models.

Intel 11th-generation processors
The current variants of the Spectre x360 family all come with Intel’s 11th-generation “Tiger Lake” CPUs, as you’d expect from any generational upgrade. These new chips not only improve on Intel’s 10nm processor design, but they also integrate Intel’s latest Iris Xe graphics. This integrated GPU is significantly more powerful than previous generations, making GPU-intensive activities considerably easier.
Support for Thunderbolt 4 is another feature enabled by these new processors, but it isn’t all that different. Thunderbolt 4 essentially standardizes Thunderbolt 3’s maximum capabilities, but HP had already been using the highest Thunderbolt 3 configuration. Regardless, you receive 40 Gigabits per second of bandwidth, which is ideal for connecting devices.
Spectre x360 14
Yes, a brand-new model, the Spectre x360 14, is one of the new features of the next generation of Spectre. Spectre laptops were typically available in 13-inch and 15-inch sizes, with 16:9 displays on both. The Spectre x360 14 offered not just a new size, but also a new form factor.
The Spectre x360 14 has a 13.5-inch display, but unlike its siblings, it doesn’t have a 16:9 aspect ratio; instead, it has a 3:2 aspect ratio. This is a taller display, similar to what you’d see in Microsoft’s Surface range, and it gives you a lot more screen real estate for content. Reading publications, surfing the web, and writing are all easier now that more lines may be displayed on the screen at the same time. It’s also unique in that it’s about the same width as the 13-inch model but the same height as the 15-inch model. And, like its siblings, it features an OLED display option, but this time in the unusual 3K2K (3000 x 2000) resolution.
Spectre x360 16
The Spectre x360 16 is the newest addition to the Spectre family, and it, too, is a completely new member with some unique features. With a 16-inch panel with a 16:10 aspect ratio, the Spectre x360 16 debuts yet another new display type. 16:10 is taller than 16:9 but not as tall as 3:2, therefore it provides a good middle ground for your needs. Of course, the fact that it’s a 16-inch display means it’ll be the tallest of the bunch.
Another significant change for the Spectre x360 16 is the addition of a 5MP webcam capable of recording 1080p video. This is significant because the rest of the Spectre range has a 720p webcam with a small sensor, resulting in poor image quality. With remote working becoming increasingly popular, this upgraded webcam makes a significant impact. It also includes intelligent functions such as auto frame, beauty mode, and lighting correction.
On the inside, the Spectre x360 is likewise unique. It’s the only Spectre model to include Intel’s H35-series processors. These are four-core mobile CPUs with a 35W TDP, which makes them substantially quicker than the 15W processors in the rest of the family, but they still include Intel Iris Xe graphics. The H-series processors, which have a 45W TDP and up to 8 cores but no Iris Xe graphics, are also different. The H35 series is designed to provide higher overall performance while being cost-effective.
Furthermore, with a GeForce RTX 3050 Ti graphics card, the Spectre x360 16 is the only model that offers dedicated NVIDIA graphics. Dedicated graphics were formerly available on various models of the Spectre x360 15, but that is currently only available on the 16-inch model, making it excellent for content creation and even some gaming.
The design of the Spectre x360 16 is also different, with a smaller emphasis on the dual-tone aesthetic. The Nightfall Black model only has a little sliver of a distinct color, whereas the Nocturne Blue model just has one hue, which may be a positive or bad thing depending on your preference.
Where can I buy the HP Spectre x360?
The HP Spectre x360 is available from most outlets that sell HP laptops. However, buying them directly from HP may be the best option because you receive the most configuration options and assistance from the company that makes the laptop. The Spectre x360 16 is not yet available for purchase at the time of writing, however the official page is linked below.
