There are a lot of tips and tricks hidden inside Apple’s iOS software on the iPhone. Some of them are more obvious than others, and some are more useful than others, but there are some that could come in handy in a bad situation if you set them up.
When you press the side button on an iPhone quickly five times, you can send an Emergency SOS message. You can find out more about that in a separate article that we wrote for the site.

The tip we’re going to talk about now is making sure your iPhone can be found even when it’s turned off. Airplane mode might be turned on if your iPhone is stolen. This means that your phone won’t be able to get online, so you won’t be able to use the Find My iPhone service.
When your iPhone is turned off, this is how you can still find it.
How to make sure your iPhone is discoverable if stolen
First, you’ll need to make your iPhone hard to find if it gets into the hands of the wrong people. You’ll need to turn off what someone can do when your iPhone is still locked.
- Open Settings on your iPhone
- Tap on ‘Face ID & Passcode’ or ‘Touch ID & Passcode’
- Enter your passcode
- Scroll down to the Allow Access When Locked section and toggle off Control Centre and USB Accessories
The next thing you’ll need to do to make sure you can still find your iPhone even if it’s turned off is to turn on-location service.
- Open Settings on your iPhone
- Head to Privacy
- Tap on Location Services at the top
- Toggle Location Services on
The last step is to make sure the Find My network is on and Find My iPhone is on.
- Open Settings on your iPhone
- Tap on your name at the top to open Apple ID settings
- Tap on Find My
- Click on Find My iPhone at the top
- Toggle on Find My iPhone, Find My Network and Send Last Location

Then, when you go to power off your iPhone, you should see a message that says “Findable after Power Off.”
And that’s it! You can then use the Find My app on a Mac (or another iPhone, if you have one) to look for your phone. You can also go to iCloud.com/find and sign in with your Apple ID to see where your phone is.
People who want to use this on a computer will see a green dot that points to their iPhone. You can choose to have your phone play a sound, delete it, or put it in “Lost Mode.” In “Lost Mode,” you can put in a phone number where you can be reached and a message like “Please return this phone as soon as possible.” This is what will happen after that. The phone will be locked until you enter its passcode again. Read more; Sony SRS-NB10, SRS-NS7 Wireless Neckband Speakers

If you use the Find My app, you’ll receive much the same functionality (albeit in a more aesthetically beautiful format), as well as map directions to your phone.
Yes, even if your iPhone has run out of battery power or has been turned off, you’ll be able to locate it if you’re running iOS 15.

(Note: the Find My app can also be used for personal security purposes, such as sharing your location with others and sending regular notifications of when you leave and arrive.) Read also; Nokia XR20 5G Rugged Smartphone Review
