Google Pixel 7 vs. iPhone 14 Plus: What’s the Difference?

When comparing the iPhone 14 Plus with the Google Pixel 7, it is evident that this is more than just an iOS versus. Android duel. Both of these phones are one-of-a-kind, with distinct advantages and disadvantages.

The Pixel 7 and iPhone 14 Plus are both a step down from their respective brands’ flagship phones. The iPhone 14 Plus has a larger screen without the higher price tag of the iPhone 14 Pro. Furthermore, the Pixel 7 is overshadowed by the more powerful Pixel 7 Pro.

However, these are powerful phones, with more features than each brand’s entry-level models and much more performance capabilities than last year’s version.

Software

For years, the Android vs. iOS battle has raged on. In the case of the Pixel 7 vs. iPhone 14, you’re comparing the most recent releases from both platforms. Both operating systems provide a slew of useful features as well as more secure performance than previous generations.

The iPhone 14 Plus already has iOS 16 installed and ready for you. With new features such as retrievable and editable messages, a redesigned clock, a new lock screen, and maps with multipoint directions, the iPhone is extremely versatile. The user interface is simple and straightforward. This is because Apple’s design pattern has remained consistent across generations.

In this regard, the Google Pixel 7 is similar to the iPhone. The Pixel 7 runs Android 13 and has a simple and easy-to-use interface. Android allows you to further customize your themes, patterns, and settings. Many interactive animations and effects are sprinkled in tastefully with the latest release, just enough to bring the operating system to life.

Design

While the iPhone continues to parade around the same boring design, the Google Pixel 7 takes a risk. Some purchasers may choose the iPhone because of its familiarity, believing that a great design does not require modification. However, if you’re looking for a distinct and modern take on the phone, the Pixel 7 offers something new.

The Goole Pixel is made of 100% recycled aluminum, making it a green design choice. The aluminum on this phone has a slightly textured finish, making it look more like a piece of jewelry than a phone. Furthermore, the two-tone color pattern is a departure from previous design patterns, as seen on the Pixel 6.

Performance

The Google Pixel 7 takes a different approach than the iPhone 14 Plus, which relies on raw processing power thanks to its A15 Bionic chip. The AI-powered Tensor cores enable Google’s phone to make the most of its hardware by leveraging machine learning algorithms. Neither phone is cutting-edge in terms of performance, which isn’t entirely bad.

While the iPhone 14 Plus uses a chip from last year, performance is comparable to the Pixel. Based on initial testing with the Pixel 6, the new generation outperforms previous tech experiments with Tensor cores. Nonetheless, the Pixel 7 is not as powerful as phones such as the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra or other flagship models.

Both phones provide excellent mobile gaming performance, and you can comfortably increase the graphics settings without experiencing overheating or lag. Though performance is excellent, the biggest drawback with heavy usage is battery life.

Display

Both phones compete until the display is reached. The iPhone really shines in this category. Thanks to Apple’s latest Super Retina XDR technology, the OLED display pops with amazingly vibrant color. This display comes to life in your hand thanks to features like HDR, wide-color, and True Tone color. It’s ideal for watching Netflix or Hulu movies.

After looking at the iPhone’s display, looking at the Pixel’s feels like going back in time. While competitive with last year’s models, the 90hz refresh rate is already falling behind the curve. Furthermore, by maintaining the same aspect ratio and resolution as the Pixel 6, Google is sticking with outdated technology.

That’s not to say the Pixel 7’s display isn’t good. The Pixel 7 is a significant upgrade over entry-level phones, especially since the bezels have shrunk since last year’s model and the peak brightness is significantly higher. However, the iPhone 14 Plus unquestionably has the best display.

Camera

The Pixel 7 and iPhone 14 Plus both have competitive camera packages. However, a few key differences distinguish them. The iPhone, in particular, has two 12MP rear-facing cameras, one for the main camera and one for an ultrawide lens with a 120-degree field of view. The Pixel 7, on the other hand, has a 50MP rear camera with a 12MP ultrawide lens.

The iPhone 14 Plus has a dual-camera system.

The Pixel 7 takes stunning photos, which are even more impressive when you consider the various after-effects available to enhance your shots. With an excellent dynamic range, you can shoot in low light or bright light without sacrificing image clarity. Long exposure, action pan, and cinematic modes, among others, give you more control over your photos.

Although the iPhone 14 Plus lacks the Pixel’s massive megapixel count, the camera quality is still excellent thanks to a few factors. The image processor is powered by Apple’s Photonic Engine, which results in more detailed images and better low-light performance.

Both phones have adequate front-facing cameras for taking endless selfies. Google uses algorithms to determine the appropriate background blue and focus levels based on the circumstances. On the iPhone 14 Plus, Apple has included a pleasing portrait mode to make your selfies stand out.

Battery

While the iPhone 14 Plus’s battery capacity is technically lower than that of the Google Pixel 7, the iPhone consumes power so efficiently that this is not an issue. The power savings can be attributed to Apple’s more efficient processor, though Google’s chip isn’t particularly power-hungry.

The iPhone 14 Plus will easily get you through the day, with a 25-hour benchmark under video playback testing. The Google Pixel 7 is close behind, with a battery that can last 24 hours or more. With power saving mode turned on, either phone will easily last until the next day.

These statistics may change as a result of activities such as gaming. Power-hungry games consume the most battery life, with percentage points dropping by up to 10% over short gaming sessions.

Even if you run out of power, charging won’t take long. Both phones support fast charging, allowing you to get nearly a full charge back in less than an hour.

Google Pixel 7 vs. iPhone 14 Plus: Which One Is Better?

The Google Pixel 7 and iPhone 14 Plus compete fairly in almost every category, but there are a few notable differences that will catch your eye. If you’re on the fence about switching from iOS to Android, you can rest assured that the operating systems and user interfaces are very similar.

Furthermore, both models deliver solid performance, though the iPhone outperforms in terms of raw processing power. The Pixel 7 compensates with more sophisticated AI-powered Tensor cores. Both phones have a competitive camera and recording features, with each offering a long list of options and capabilities.

The disadvantage of the iPhone 14 Plus is its high price. If you’re willing to pay for improved performance, a slightly larger battery, and better cameras, the iPhone may be worth it.
