Does Galaxy Book 2 Pro support Windows Hello?

The Samsung Galaxy Book 2 Pro series is expected to be among the greatest laptops of 2022, which isn’t surprising given how well last year’s versions were. Samsung has improved its performance this year with new processors and more powerful setups, but the lightweight and thin designs have remained. Windows Hello support, on the other hand, hasn’t altered with the Galaxy Book 2 Pro series.

The Samsung Galaxy Book 2 Pro has Windows Hello functionality, just like previous year’s models, due to the fingerprint reader embedded into the power button. However, there is no infrared camera for facial recognition, which would have been useful. To unlock your PC, all you have to do is tap your finger on the fingerprint reader.

What is Windows Hello, and how does it function on the Samsung Galaxy Book 2 Pro?

Windows Hello is a feature that Microsoft included in Windows 10 and has been available since then. It’s a way to integrate biometric authentication directly into Windows, allowing you to unlock your computer or authorize purchases using your fingerprint or facial recognition rather than a password or PIN.

Some solutions had previously existed, but they were custom-built, and each implementation was unique. Windows Hello is safe and easy to use. It’s quicker than inputting a password, and you don’t have to worry about someone looking over your shoulder to see what you’re typing.

A fingerprint reader, an infrared camera for facial recognition, or both can be used to supplement Windows Hello support. The Samsung Galaxy Book 2 Pro uses the fingerprint reader, which is the most prevalent way for Windows Hello.

Because it’s incorporated into the power button, you can turn on the laptop and it’ll read your fingerprint right away. Your computer takes a few seconds to load the Windows login screen, but it can read your fingerprint as soon as you push the button and save that information to log you in when the Windows lock screen appears. An infrared camera might make the process even easier because all you have to do is stare at the camera and it will sign you in. It’s not a tremendous difference, but it can be useful if you’re attempting to authorize a purchase and don’t want to contact the fingerprint scanner with your hand. Samsung probably didn’t include it since IR cameras take up a little more space, and corporations like laptops with lower bezels to look more current. You may purchase an external webcam with Windows Hello built-in if you wish to use Windows Hello facial recognition. If you prefer something more economical, there are a few options available, such as the Dell UltraSharp 4K camera or the Lenovo 500 Full HD webcam.

If fingerprint readers aren’t your thing, we have a list of the best laptops with Windows Hello facial recognition built-in that might be more appealing. Otherwise, when the Samsung Galaxy Book 2 Pro becomes available, we’ll provide a link below (pre-orders starts on March 18th). If you want to look into more possibilities with outstanding portability, you can look into the finest lightweight laptops.
