Today, AMD will show off its Ryzen PRO 6000 chips, which are more potent than the Ryzen 6000 chips that were shown off earlier this year. This is a bold claim since Intel has 12th-generation vPro chips that are even more powerful than these.
First, AMD talked a lot about speed. It’s important to note that a lot of this isn’t new because the performance should be about the same as the parts you buy for your home. We’ve already seen laptops with these chips since the CES show, with Lenovo’s new ThinkPad Z-series, which has these chips. It should be possible to get a business laptop with an AMD Ryzen processor and a PRO version.
AMD is a promising best-in-class performance with Ryzen PRO 6000
Ryzen 6000 H, Ryzen 6000 U, and new versions of Ryzen 5000 U were announced today. The Ryzen PRO 6000 chips are built on the new Zen 3+ architecture, which is made on a 6nm node and promises up to 30% faster CPU speed. Also, AMD says that with RDNA 2 graphics, they can get up to double the graphics speed.
AMD took the time to compare its U-series processors, usually 15W but can be scaled up to a 30W TDP, with Intel’s new 28W P-series processors. It is claimed to be the best at Cinebench R23 multithreaded performance, graphics, PCMark 10, PCMark 10 Extended, and PCMark 10 Productivity. One-core Cinebench R23 still goes to Intel, which isn’t surprising because Intel does so well in single-core tests.
It’s not just about how well you do. AMD claims to have the best battery life in the world. On an HP EliteBook 865 G9, which has a Ryzen 7 PRO 6850U and a 76WHr battery, it took 26.15 hours to run the MobileMark 2018 battery test. How long did it last? It ran for 22.25 hours on an HP EliteBook 1040 G8 with a Core I-7-1165G7 processor and 78WHr battery, which is about the same as a full day. With the same processor, it says it can play videos for up to 29 hours and last for up to 45 percent longer than an Intel Core i7-1260P. Read more; AMD Ryzen 7 5800X Vs Ryzen 7 5800X3D
With great PRO comes excellent security.
For the first time, Microsoft Pluton has been built into AMD Ryzen PRO 6000, which is very important. The only other place we’ve seen it so far is in Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3 chipset, but that’s the only one. Pluton does a lot of things, like protect against physical attacks. It also makes sure that the hardware and software work together very well. Many people might remember that AMD also makes the chips for Xbox consoles.
Also, there are manageability features, like support for Windows Autopilot, which makes it easy for admins to set up new Windows devices quickly and quickly. It also supports modern management tools like Microsoft Endpoint Manager, which you would expect. Companies that want to buy processors need to know that the software will be stable for 18 months, that the processor will be available for 24 months, and that the QA and Validation process will be better.
There have already been a lot of laptops with these new processors on the market. If you buy an HP EliteBook 800 G9, a Lenovo ThinkPad Z-series, or a ThinkPad T-series, you’ll find Ryzen PRO 6000. People who use Lenovo’s ThinkPad L-series laptops will find Ryzen PRO 5000 chips in their laptops. These include the ThinkPad E-series, ThinkPad V-series, and ThinkBook laptops. AMD didn’t say which other companies were partners, but it did say that more were coming. Read also; Intel Core i7-12700K vs AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D
