Following a design refresh for the A8 last year, Audi has only made two changes for 2023. The optional Executive package now features a new remote parking feature, while the Comfort Plus package now has nicer LED headlights.
Overview
While some large luxury vehicles are designed to draw attention with their extravagant aesthetic, the 2023 Audi A8 has a more tailored, professional exterior with a distinct appeal. Inside, the huge Audi is just as roomy and comfy as rivals like the BMW 7-series and Mercedes-Benz S-class, and a slew of high-tech features make staying connected while traveling simple. Extensive sound deadening measures keep the A8’s cabin quiet, drowning out even the turbocharged V-6 engine.

As a result, the A8 is a relaxing place to reflect while your driver transports you to your next board meeting. But the A8 isn’t just appealing to those in the back. Its driver will be astonished at how well this enormous vehicle handles. While not as athletic as the sportier S8 (evaluated separately), the A8 can compete on a particularly twisty stretch of road.

Pricing and Which One to Buy
If you’re going to buy Audi’s flagship luxury car, choose the Luxury package, which includes heated back seats with power adjustments and massage, a leather-wrapped dashboard, all-wheel steering, and more. The Executive package, which includes massaging front seats, a head-up display, a heated steering wheel, blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control with lane-keeping assist, a remote parking feature, and interior ambient lighting, is also recommended.
Engine, Transmission, and Performance
The A8 is powered by a turbocharged V-6 engine with 335 horsepower supplemented by a 48-volt hybrid system. All-wheel drive and eight-speed automatic transmission are standard. The A8 we tested went from zero to sixty miles per hour in 5.3 seconds. The A8 is a few tenths slower than the Mercedes-Benz S500 among six-cylinder executive cars.
The engine in the Audi is smooth, but there’s no fanfare to its power delivery, and sound-deadening measures are so extensive that it’s nearly inaudible with the windows up. The A8 has an Audi-like balance of agility and ride comfort. Standard features include adjustable air suspension and driver-adjustable adaptive dampers. The Audi A8 separates you from road irregularities while still allowing you to smash down a back road when the whim strikes. Read; Tesla Cybertruck Price, Interior, and Specs
Real-World MPG and Fuel Economy
According to the EPA, the A8 will get 19 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the interstate. We won’t be able to evaluate the A8’s real-world mpg until we take it on our 75-mph highway fuel-economy route as part of our rigorous testing process. Audi A8 Interior, Comfort, and Cargo
The A8 has impressive passenger capacity, and its long wheelbase means that rear-seat passengers are comfortably accommodated. A five-passenger seating configuration is standard, but an optional four-passenger seating configuration eliminates the rear center seat and adds a pair of power-adjustable rear seats with heating, ventilation, and massage, as well as a heated foot-massage function and a pair of individual entertainment tablets (while reducing power adjustments for the front passenger seat to make room for all that).
Extensive leather and a small forest’s worth of wood inlays are available as special orders. Like the exterior of the A8, the interior is modest and not as opulent as that of the Mercedes S-class. The trunk space is small for a large luxury vehicle, only 13 cubic feet.

Audi A8 Infotainment and Connectivity
The 12.3-inch Virtual Cockpit instrument cluster and the 10.1-inch, higher, and 8.6-inch lower haptic center screens with the MMI Touch Response technology are standard. The audio system has a single volume knob because most features are controlled via touchscreens. It can be confusing at first, but the system is quick to respond and highly adjustable, allowing owners to choose their own dedicated buttons on the lower screen while providing persistent navigation, weather, phone functions, and radio buttons on the left side of the upper screen. Remember that trying to erase fingerprints will wear out the supplied microfiber wipe. Up front, two USB connections have combined data and charging capacity, phone integration for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and Amazon Alexa compatibility. Wi-Fi is offered for an extra membership charge through Audi Connect Plus.
Safety and Driver-Assistance Features
The A8 is equipped with the same driver-assistance technology as other high-end cars. When fitted with Traffic Jam Assist (Driver Assistance package), the A8 will assist you with acceleration and braking in congested areas, but your hands cannot leave the steering wheel for more than a few seconds. Visit the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) websites for further information on the A8’s crash-test results. The following are important safety features:
- Standard automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection
- Available adaptive cruise control
- Standard lane-departure warning and lane-keeping assist
Maintenance Coverage and Warranty

- The limited warranty period is four years or 50,000 miles.
- The powertrain warranty is valid for four years or 50,000 miles.
