The 2022 Audi A8 goes above and above in a segment where interior comfort is a primary priority. The A8’s cabin is stylish and well-built, with lush leather surfaces. The front and rear seats are comfortable, supportive, and spacious, with little outside noise. Though it is sufficient space for passengers in both rows, the A8 has one of the smallest trunks in the segment.
While technically excellent, the A8’s dual-screen infotainment system takes some time. However, once you’re acclimated to it, you’ll discover a comprehensive system with features and personalization possibilities. Despite its high-tech interior features, the A8 maintains a warm, understated interior appearance.

2022 Audi A8 Interior
Audi and its fellow German automakers have maintained the gold standard for interior build quality, best exemplified by the A8. The interior is excellent, with a solidity that cars costing twice as much cannot hope to match. Unfortunately, it isn’t flawless. The big slab of piano black trim that runs the breadth of the dashboard feels frustratingly plasticky, which is not what we’d expect from the automaker.
However, other charming details distract from this. The air vents, for example, are hidden behind decorative inlays and only become visible when the vehicle is turned on. Aside from the gimmicks, there are plenty of toys and features to enjoy. The two screens (with haptic feedback) aren’t as user-friendly as Audi’s classic rotary knob controller, but it’s one of the better modern-day layouts available. Comfort is top-notch. The leather-upholstered seats are luxurious as well as supportive. Furthermore, the front pews have a 22-way power adjustment, allowing occupants of different shapes and sizes to find their optimal seating position. The specification is generous, as one would expect from a high-priced executive. To mention a few amenities, all 2022 A8s come standard with heated and ventilated front seats, four-zone climate control, Audi’s virtual cockpit, and a panoramic sunroof.

Audi A8 Interior Space and Seating
The Audi A8 can accommodate up to five people across two rows. Even the most difficult-to-please tycoon must admit that the cabin is enormous. Passengers will appreciate the large interior once aboard (getting in and out of the Audi is simple). Up front, there is 38.3 inches of legroom and 41.5 inches of headroom.
Passengers may even battle for the opportunity to sit in the second row. The first-class rear quarters are even roomier, with 38.5 inches of headroom and 44.3 inches of legroom. The A8 can transport five people, but don’t expect the middle back passenger to be pleased with their seat.
Those sticking to the middle pew will struggle to appreciate the smooth ride and plush leather with three people in the back – it can feel a little crowded. Surprisingly, the A8 no longer comes with the Executive Rear Seat upgrade, eliminating the middle seat and providing customers with an even more luxurious experience. Interior Colors and Materials
The Audi A8 comes with a total of six upholstery options. Valetta leather is a free option in either black or Sarder Brown. Audi will trim the interior with Valcona leather (part of the Comfort Plus option) for an additional $3,250, which is available in the aforementioned colors, Cognac Brown and Pearl Grey.
However, choosing the more expensive upholstery necessitates the installation of the $3,400 Executive package, raising the total price to $6,650. Regardless of leather and upholstery color, the A8 comes standard with black carpeting and a Crystal Silver headliner. However, a black finish is optional. The headliner can also be chosen with Audi’s microfiber Dynamica upholstery.
Natural Dark Brown Walnut inlays add a touch of old-world beauty to the tech-heavy cabin, but they can be replaced with Eucalyptus Gray Brown or Ash Gray Brown interior trim. Audi also offers an extended leather option as part of the $5,400 Luxury package for a really premium experience.
2022 A8 Trunk and Cargo Space
The trunk of the 2022 A8 is regrettably small for a car of its size. The A8’s meager 12.5 cubic feet of cargo space is thoroughly battered by the Lexus LS, which offers 16.95 cubes. Even so, there’s plenty of room for the bi-weekly shopping run, and the A8 will cheerfully swallow two pieces of luggage for an impromptu weekend escape. The netted storage space and grocery hooks are useful additions. However, the high loading sill did not impress us.
The rear seat does not fold down, as in other sedans in this class, although Audi offers several in-car storage alternatives. The glove box is adequate in size and is supplemented by a convenient central storage bin. The cabin has four cupholders; if they aren’t big enough, the door bins may carry larger water bottles.
